Our Coaches
Joe Mckeown
“It’s not the critic who counts, The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena.” – Theodore Roosevelt
CrossFit gave me purpose, resilience, and a place to anchor myself when life got tough. As a coach, my mission has always been to build that same foundation for every member who walks through our doors.
I started CrossFit in 2019 and became a coach in 2022, and I’ve been part of New Horizon since day one. In that time, the community we’ve built has created some of the most rewarding moments of my personal and professional life.
Helping members-many new to training-thrive, grow into the best version of themselves, and become part of a genuinely supportive community is what I’m most proud of.
With over a decade of experience under the bar and on the coaching platform, I have dedicated my career to mastering the art and science of the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk. My coaching philosophy is built on a foundation of elite technical lineage; I have spent years studying the world-renowned systems of Turkish and Bulgarian weightlifting, learning directly from some of the sport’s most accomplished minds to bring world-class methodology to my athletes.
As a multi-time competitor at the English Championships, I understand the grit and mental fortitude required to perform when the lights are brightest. I don’t just coach the movement; I coach the competitor.
I founded Immortal Athletics Weightlifting out of a genuine passion for the “long game.” There is nothing more rewarding than watching an athlete transform-not just in the kilos they put on the bar, but in the confidence they carry through life. I pride myself on being a perpetual student of the sport, constantly collaborating with other top coaches and refining my approach to ensure my team always has the edge.
Whether you are stepping onto the platform for the first time or hunting for a national qualifying total, I am here to guide your journey and help you build a legacy of strength.
